Thinking of taking up woodturning -talk to us about some one
on one, one day woodturning tuition. We cater for the beginner who hasn't
touched a lathe before and also for the woodturner who wants to learn how to do
Rick's finish on woodturnings. Book a day (or days) with us and make time on
your travels to visit us. We have some special woodturning tools only available
from us - we supply woodturning chucks, cole jaws, bowl savers, lathes and more.
We have some wonderful
fiddleback grained ancient kauri pieces for you to choose from, so come and see
our gallery. You are welcome to purchase any of the pieces you see on our
website - we post worldwide and we can take payment by credit card.
For those of you who are coming to visit our gallery/studio we have added a
map at the bottom of the Home page so you know exactly how to find us (click on
the map and it will link to a large version)
We are on the main highway (SH12 - State Highway 12) which
also happens to be Murdoch Street when you are entering Dargaville from the
North- West. If traveling from the south (Auckland) just as you leave Dargaville township
we are next to the Corner Dairy and Fast Food takeaways. If you go past the
cattle yards you have gone too far.
Look for the large sign featuring a picture of Rick
Taylor - it is a large sign, brightly coloured flags and all the bits
of kauri and an old cart out front of our gallery. Stop for some food, get a drink, book some
woodturning tuition with Rick - one day or longer. Pick up a bit of kauri wood
or one of Rick's special woodturning tools or purchase one of Ricks' amazing
kauri bowls/pots etc.

We are still offering one on one individual tuition at any time - just
confirm your date with us and tell us what level you are on and what you want
covered in your day. Can be any day of the week or weekend - we have Cd's on
woodturning if you cant make it to our gallery.

Who - with Rick Taylor
When - date to be advised - as soon as we have 6
people wanting a workshop we will run it. Let us know what topic you want
covered and we will start the list of participants (workshop limited to only 6
participants)
Our last workshop on bowl making was a great day. Rick even showed how to
turn a square bowl (later cut and rejoined to form a walking bowl) and a large
platter/bowl.
Bring your woodturning tools if you need help in the
sharpening of them.
Cost per person NZ$55.00. Tea/coffee supplied. Lunch
available next door or bring your own.
This is not a "hands on" day but a workshop where you
watch Rick demonstrate his skills and you can ask questions and learn new
methods to make your woodturning more enjoyable.
Register your interest in any of these workshop as it will
be only a small group to give everyone the best opportunity to get as much as
possible from the day with Rick.
We intend holding one day workshops covering the following so let us know which
one you would like to attend and we will set a date.
We will let you know when we have sufficient numbers to do the day - usually on
6 participants.

Beginners - for those who haven't as yet purchased
a lathe or those that have a lathe but don't know where to start - remember we
sell lathes, tools, chucks etc so talk to Rick before you buy your lathe.
Beginners 1 - for those that have been turning for
a little while but want to know some of the tricks to make woodturning more
enjoyable.
Bowl making
Advanced - perhaps hollow pots, decorating your
work and more.
Open - you tell us what you want - maybe you just
need some help in getting round corners or finishing off the bottom of your
bowl. Maybe you need some more tuition on getting the best finish on your piece.
We can also offer private one on one tuition here at
our gallery/studio or Rick is available for club visits, seminars and
demonstrations.
